Here's another exciting YouTube initiative: film and video makers around the world can enter "Your Film Festival" beginning February 2 and have the chance to win $500,000 to work with Ridley Scott and top-notch producers on their next project. Oh yeah, and just a trip to the Venice Film Festival. That's all. The video must be story-driven, done in 15 minutes, and it can be any genre, just as long as it was never publicly screened or distributed before January 1, 2010. The deadline is March 31, and Ridley and Tony Scott's Scott Free production company will pick 50 semi-finalists by June.
Your Film Festival, A Chance To Work With Ridley Scott
Ridley Scott is nearly 75 years old, but he and his brother Tony have been everywhere in online video lately (not to mention producers on the second season of BMW "The Hire" back in 2002), throwing great support for the medium. Scott Free London, along with Emirates and the Venice Film Festival, banded together with YouTube to create this contest.
Here's YouTube's contest video:
Once the 50 semi-finalists are decided, YouTube's huge community will then decide the lucky 10 who then get to go to Venice, where their projects will actually be shown to an audience, and then a jury led by Ridley Scott himself will pick the winner and change someone's life forever.
The rules are at the YouTube Your Film Festival Channel
