YouTube Creator Playbook Gives Producers & Marketers A Blueprint For Success

YouTube isn't run by dummies. They know that the more their users succeed, the more they (YouTube) succeed. Throughout the years, the company has created a number of initiatives to help educate and guide users toward creating and marketing the best videos they can. The latest effort may be one of the best yet. It's called the YouTube Creator Playbook, and it's essentially a highly detailed blueprint for YouTube success.
The YouTube Creator Playbook
The YouTube Creator Playbook is broken down into three main categories, or chapters.
Programming & Production
This chapter deals with the production side of video creation, with sub-chapters covering the following areas:
- The First 15 Seconds
- Call-to-Actions (CTAs)
- Regular Schedule & Frequency
- Tent-pole Programming
- Cross-Promotion & Collaboration
- Investigate "Peak & Valleys"
- Producing Checklist
Publishing & Optimization
The section section of the Creator Playbook deals with what happens after a video is created--publishing and video optimization--with sub-chapters on the following:
- Metadata
- Thumbnails
- Annotations
- Playlists & Video Responses
- Channel Page Optimization
- Publishing Checklist
Community & Social Media
The third and final section of the Playbook handles community and social media tips, with advice for engaging viewers and growing the audience, with sub-chapters like:
- Involve Your Audience
- Blog Outreach
- Other Social Media
- Community Checklist
The YouTube Creator Playbook was released in July, and since it has a version number (1.0), I can only assume it will be updated moving forward--which is awesome.
Over the course of the next several weeks, we'll take a closer look at each of the sub-chapters in the YouTube Creator Playbook and outline the company's official advice for creators.
Or, if you prefer, you can check out the slide presentation of the entire Creator Playbook right here:
