Weekly Online Video News Round Up Dont Wear White Edition

Labor Day has come and gone. So put away those white pants, summer's over. Meanwhile, the rest of the universe chugs along at its standard pace which means, we've got news to round up and collect for you to peruse over your Saturday morning coffee (or cartoon commercial breaks).

Brightcove Offers Instant Play via Zencoder

Instant Play, from Brightcove, applies live streaming methodology to file-based transcoding and takes advantage of parallel processing in the cloud to enable playback of media within seconds of commencing
transcoding. With Instant Play, files are transcoded while the file is being uploaded, and most
importantly, content is streamed for playback before the entire file is transcoded. Publishers of
breaking news content, sports highlights, political commentary and other types of time-sensitive
content can immediately capitalize on breaking stories and capture viewer interest. And, with
a cloud-based solution, organizations can achieve instant scale and operational efficiencies
previously beyond their reach with existing hardware and software encoding solutions.

Instant Play is now available in public beta, enabling anyone with a Zencoder account to take
advantage of this new approach to content publishing. Content providers can sign up for a free
Zencoder account.

Live Cloud Transcoding is also available in limited beta. Content providers interested in
gaining early access to this technology may apply to the limited beta program.

ZOOMTILT announces the launch of “The TV Reset Project”

Boston based digital entertainment studio, ZoomTilt, is launching a global talent search campaign for five independent filmmakers through their self- sponsored “TV Reset Project.”

“The TV Reset Project,” is a digital TV movement created by ZoomTilt that provides development and marketing support to independent filmmakers to enable them to create financially sustainable internet TV.

"Instead of hoping to be discovered, today's independent filmmakers are building their fan-base and earning their living online,” says CEO Anna Callahan. “It’s time to take your creative work into your own hands, and we’re here to help with funding and promotion."

The contest will be held through an online submission form at ZoomTilt.com and is open to filmmakers across the globe. Five finalists will be selected by an expert judging panel in October to produce pilot episodes of their show. The final chapter of the competition will be an open contest based on the number of unique YouTube views, likes and shares on each pilot receives. The winning series will be green-lit and funded for a full season that will air from ZoomTilt’s YouTube channel page.

“The TV Reset Project” will launch on the web this September in conjunction with the start- up’s IndieGoGo campaign, which aims to raise $40K in funding to help support production costs for the selected finalists.
