VUDU, Brightcove to Deliver Content to Set Top Box

Two big names now getting together to offer one big service. Brightcove,  a leading video delivery platform and VUDU a home theatre digital content provider, have hopped on the couch together to put some ad-supported digital content onto set top boxes everywhere.

Through the agreement, Brightcove customers will not be able to offer their content to set top box users so that they can watch it on their digital home theatres without having to fire up a web browser or use a computer.

The content will first appear in the VUDU Labs area and will include a MyPlay application which will offer Sony Music videos through Sony Music’s MyPlay Video Network affiliate program.

The companies have announced that numerous ad networks will be supported under this new initiative to ensure maximum monetization potential.

Brightcove is being integrated via the VUDU’s Rich Internet Applications (RIA) platform. This platform lets content suppliers utilize multiple advertising channels through intelligent ad calling and lets suppliers maintain maximum control over their ad inventory.
