The Reel Video Search Engine Optimization Secret Sauce

The Reel Video Search Engine Optimization Secret Sauce

Want to get more views for your videos? Have you optimized your videos for the search engines? Knowing how to get your videos found via search can make a big difference in your video views. But it's something that relatively few video producers are aware of.

The New Media Minute recently caught up with ReelSEO's own, Mark Robertson, at the 2010 BlogWorld Expo to learn more about optimizing video for search engines.

Publisher's Note: Please keep in mind that this interview was immediately following my performance in a lumberjack log-rolling competition. Also, I picked the thumbnail above to show you how I perform video SEO magic (all white-hat by the way.) :-)  Lastly, thanks to Daisy for the interview.

this is really helpful for me.

As always - great info on Video SEO Mark - but more importantly - how did you do in the Log Rolling competition?

    • Mark Robertson

      dead last :)

      • Dave Holland

I'm disappointed - the beard promised so much more... :)

Great video Mark. For all of you WordPress users, the "Google XML Sitemap for Videos" plugin does a great job creating video sitemaps for you.

    • Dana

The plugin states that it indexes YouTube content. I was under the impression the Google ignored stuff that wasn't self hosed....

      • Mark Robertson

You are correct. Even though it might make a sitemap, it doesnt mean it
works to get videos indexed. Unfortunately, that plugin doesnt work as you
        pointed out.

      • Hani Mourra

I am a bit surprised. After submitting my video sitemap (created by
this plugin), Google reported that majority of my YouTube videos are
indeed indexed....but I still can't confirm that the are actually
coming up in Google search results.

  • Ronnie Bincer

Thanks Mark, ... "...the magic happens"... except for us that post our videos to YouTube, right? We have to figure out another way.

But as you have said before, Post & Host, do them both (hey that almost rhymes) - Woof!!
