As most of you know, an online video platform provides companies with video hosting and delivery services among various other features and functionality that can vary (analytics, ad networks, HD support, etc…). Many of these online video platforms (and there are just too many right now in my opinion but that is another post entirely) offer an API (Application Programming Interface.) An API exposes the features and functions of a platform thus enabling others to seamlessly integrate core video functionality within their own applications.

What’s New at Veoh – New Veoh.com Beta Version Launched
Veoh’s got a new version including a website redesign, and some new features. They’ve re-categorized the content into more than 100 categories to make it easier for you to find what you want. They also allow you to browse for other videos while watching something. Though I’m not sure what that accomplishes since you could easily do that with two browser windows as well. I guess it lets you do it in one interface and window which is a little cleaner. The player now has three sizes, small, theater for a larger experience and full-screen.
New Study – Engaged Online Video Viewers Pay Attention To Ads
When it comes to advertising, not all online video viewers are created equal, according to a new commissioned study conducted by Forrester Consulting on behalf of Veoh Networks. Released today, “Watching The Web: How Online Video Engages Audiences” reveals that while some online video viewers still only “snack” on short clips, there exists a large audience of young, influential, engaged viewers who watch a great deal of long-form online video and pay attention to the brand messages delivered to them in online video environments.
Veoh Launches Behavioral Targeting for Online Video Ads
Veoh Networks ( www.veoh.com), the world’s most comprehensive Internet Television service, today announced the launch of a new behavioral targeting system that allows marketers to connect with Veoh viewers based on their video viewing passions and interests. The new system, which is currently in beta, combines video consumption, searching, browsing and community activity data from Veoh’s more than 28 million viewers to deliver branded ads and content to viewers across multiple lifestyle and interest categories.
Veoh Gets $30 Million in Additional Funding
Veoh Networks, just announced today that it has received a total of $30 million in additional funding from various investors including the investment arm of Intel, Intel Capital, and Adobe systems. Just yesterday we broke the story that Veoh was blocking international users of countries which it deemed to have a low amount of viewers. Interesting timing in that perhaps this is a way to demonstrate to investors their goal to generate revenue and avoid waste, as bandwidth and support costs for various countries must be high vs. revenue earned at this point. Perhaps it has nothing to do with this announcement….

According to several sources online, including Google blogs, – Veoh.com online video website has started to block out many international companies from viewing their website, with no official notice from the company ahead of time.
