Over 7.4 Billion Video Ads In October As Tremor Video Tops A Billion

comScore has released the October 2011 Video Metrix report and the first thing that caught my eye, which I prognosticated on over a month ago, was Tremor Video topping one billion video ads a month, and they did it... and are continuing to close in on Hulu who is just about 250 million ads up ...
SpotXchange Taps Innovid For Interactive PreRoll Video Advertising Campaigns

Video advertising is quickly seeping into every aspect of online life, and why shouldn't it? With the new partnership between Innovid and SpotX, advertisers using the latter can use the iRoll Apps of the prior and create interactive and social video advertising campaigns out of standard pre-roll creative.

SpotXchange is the first video ad network to ramp up integration of directly-served behaviorally targeted in-stream video ad campaigns in its network with the Digital Advertising Alliance's (DAA) Advertising Option Icon, a notice to consumers to provide more transparency and control over the collection and use of their data regarding their Internet viewing for online behavioral ...
Real Time Bidding Expands At SpotXchange, BrightRoll, & Other Video Ad Networks

The good people at SpotXchange have announced that all of their inventory is now available through the real-time bidding on their exchange. This was in reply to 120% more real-time bid requests since November 2010 when it originally launched. BrightRoll on the other hand launched their exchange just a couple months ago but are also ...
VEVO, Google, Hulu Still On Top In comScore August 2011 Video Metrix

So here we are another month in the books (and this one a full week later than the normal video metrix numbers) and we see the release of the comScore August 2011 video metrix. No surprise that VEVO topped the YouTube partners, Google topped all sites, and Hulu was number one in ad impressions.
YouTube Partner Channels Added To comScore Video Metrix for July 2011

With the July 2011 report, comScore has expanded their monthly video metrix, which tracks online video services and viewers, to include what they call "Select YouTube Partners" (see table below). What that sounds like to me is that they are NOT including all of the top partners, just a select few.
Despite Summer`s Arrival, 178 Million Watch an Average 16.8 Hours of Online Video in June

Hi everyone, hope your summer is going well. I know, it's a non-standard way to start an article talking about statistics, but I wanted to get off on the right foot. Also in that vein, I wanted to give you some information that I've received from comScore about their Video Metrix numbers, to sort of ...
Cost-Per-View Gains Traction, But Begs The Question: What is a Video View?

SpotXchange, our friends with Otto the auto-optimizer, are expanding their offerings once again. This time they've gotten on the cost-per-view bandwagon and are launching the new format with a bit of hoopla. My major concern is, how can the industry launch a 'cost-per-view' ad format...when much of them can't even agree on what actually constitutes a ...
May 2011 Nielsen vs. ComScore Online Video Numbers

It's time once again to take a look at the previous month's online video viewing numbers and statistics. This time, I waited until I got them from both the two major statistics firms, comScore and Nielsen, before writing anything up. It gives a clearer picture when you're able to compare the two. Not at all ...
Online Video Numbers Hold Steady for April, Except at AOL

comScore released the Video Metrix a bit late this month and I've been quite busy of late so I missed it. Well I got a nudge from Mark about it and so here we are. If you've been following the saga you know that there was a dip in February but a resounding rebound in ...
Online Video Springs Back in March, 174M Viewers Watch 889 Minutes on Average

After the February fizzle in online video, March has seen the industry spring back to life with 174 million Americans raining down upon online video sites and viewing sessions blossoming to 5.7B while average viewing time saw a growth spurt to 889.1 minutes. Ahhh...spring is in the air, Play Ball!
SpotXchange Nabs IAB Certification for Video Advertising

You Otto know by now, SpotXchange is on the rise. To help prove that point, they were among one of the first ad networks to nail down an IAB Quality Assurance Guidelines (QAG) certification. It's a self-certification process and training program that lets clients know that SpotX has reached the upper echelons in regards to ...
YouTube Profitability Watch Update - 2011 to Top $2.25B?

Citi Analyst Mark Mahaney is again doing some prognosticating about the profitability of YouTube according to a new report he's due to put out today. Back in January when he did this I posted a reply that I think YouTube would hit $2B this year when he said $1B. So now it's time for round ...
Is Online Video Dying? Comscore's Video Metrix Says Fizzle in Feb

This doesn't make much sense to me, but it seems like less people in the US (170M vs. 171M) started more video sessions (5B vs. 4.8B) in February than in January, and then watched for less time (816 vs 870 minutes) each. So it seems like viewership is in decline from the all-time high of ...
Auto-Optimizing Video Ad Campaigns Gets a Hero in SpotXChange's Otto

Like Otto von Bismarck, SpotXchange's Otto wants to rule the world. Well at least the world of online video ad campaigns and I don't know that Bismarck was bent ruling anything more than the German Empire. But hey, two dudes named Otto. Sure I could have talked about Otto Herschmann or Otto Soglow or even ...
