For me, I need it to fall asleep ;-)  Likewise, local television ad spending is not going away anytime soon either.  Advertisers are familiar with the medium, have existing creative assets, and like the brand building power that it provides.

However, television advertising lacks interactivity and measurability and this is where extension into online video advertising naturally comes in to play.  I think the opportunity that exists to build this bridge between local TV advertising and Internet advertising is an obvious one, and so do our friends at Mixpo.

NCC Extends Advertiser Options Through Mixpo Technology

Mixpo is working to extend the reach of cable TV ad campaigns by taking them online and turning them into interactive ads. It seems that advertising is converging faster than television and the Internet are, or is it? Mixpo just signed a deal with NCC that includes regional as well as national campaigns being extended to their [NCC's] websites.

einstein duh 200x105 Interactive Video Ads Increase Effectiveness?Late last year, Marketing Sherpa, released an in-depth report geared on the fast-growing landscape of video marketing titled, “Marketing With Video Report: Online, TV & Mobile.” In their research for the report, they asked a sample of marketers using video advertising, either online or on TV, what effect various tactics would have on their video ads.  The answer was a resounding, “We Want More Interactivity in Video Ads.”

73% of video marketers agree that adding interactivity to a video ad will increase the effectiveness of the ad.  And thank God for that answer.  I do wonder about the other 27% who disagree.  I mean, how the heck would you get the idea that incorporating greater interactivity might not increase conversions/effectiveness/etc…?  Not to say that the question shouldn’t have been asked.  Clearly it is important for companies in the video advertising space to understand what is most important to the marketers that are leveraging video advertising.

Mixpo Rocks $4M Investment and Rolls to AlwaysOn OnMedia NYC

mixpo-logoToday, Anupam Gupta, the CEO for Mixpo, an online video advertising platform that we’ve covered in-depth, will be accepting the OnMedia 100 award at the AlwaysOn OnMedia NYC Conference.  In addition, the company announced today that it had received a $4 million follow-on investment, led by Madrona Venture Group.  Today’s news comes on the heels of five new partnerships with local media publishers, including leaders such as NBC Local Media, Tribune and Freedom Communications, announced last week.

For many media publishers, and newspapers in particular, a large majority of the interactive revenues that are generated are tied to either classified advertising products (which continue to suffer against strong competition like craigslist, autotrader, etc…) and static display banner advertising sales.  This is important to mention because there has been a multitude of research published in the last year that points to a coming steep decline in the popularity of online static display banner ads.
