Online Video Continues Ridiculous Trajectory
ComScore has released their online video numbers for September 2009, and the trend continues. Online video views are again at an all time high.
More than 168 Million U.S. viewers watched online video during that month, accumulating nearly 26 Billion total views. Holy cow.
Google Users Are More Loyal & More Active… Probably
New data from ComScore shows that Google users run more searches than Yahoo and Microsoft users… combined. According to the research, Google users conduct an average of 54.5 searches. Yahoo users perform 24.5 searches and Microsoft users run 26.9 queries.
More interesting than that, though, are the loyalty numbers.

comScore, a leader in measuring the digital world, today released January 2009 data from the comScore Video Metrix service, indicating that the total U.K. online video viewing audience has grown 10 percent during the past year to 29.6 million unique viewers age 15 and older.
Youtube Sets New Record with 100 Million Viewers in January
comScore, a leader in measuring the digital world, today released January 2009 data from the comScore Video Metrix service showing that U.S. Internet users viewed 14.8 billion online videos during the month, representing an increase of 4 percent versus December 2008. YouTube led the growth charge, accounting for 91 percent of the incremental gain in the number of videos viewed versus December, as it surpassed 100 million viewers for the first time.
Online Video Viewership Sets New Record in December
Online video viewership set a new record December 2008 with a 13% increase over the previous month according to a new report released from the comScore Video Metrix service. According to the report, for the first time, more than 14.3 Billion videos were watched in December along by US internet users. As you might expect, Google Sites (which include Youtube) led the growth charge, accounting for 49% of the incremental gain overall in videos viewed versus the previous month. For Youtube in particular, almost 100 mission viewers in December watched almost 6 billion videos on Youtube alone.

Free Custom Professional Videos for Local SMBs?
You probably saw our recent post about new research released by Borrell and Associates which predicts the rapid demise of traditional yellow pages, and the rise of online video in its place. Following the release of that research, Citysearch, a leading online local destination (also known as an internet yellow pages directory, or IYP) is taking a pro-active approach to capturing market share as soon as possible.
They have announced that through the end of August 2008, they are giving new customers a FREE, custom produced, online video. Furthermore, they are allowing customers to embed the video on their own website which is a welcome departure from the methods in which other IYPs currently offer online video products.

According to the report, they estimates that the yellow pages industry will loose almost 40% of their annual revenue over the course of the next 5 years. Guess where the that revenue will go? New Research – Most Popular Video Sites & Categories
Last week, Tubemogul released new research that proves the current dominance of Youtube and demonstrates that videos on Youtube receive more views on average than other video sites, regardless of category. The research also demonstrates that while this is currently the case, other sites like Metacafe are quickly gaining momentum.
