Google Confirms Meta Keyword Tag is Ignored for Ranking
This may be more straight-SEO news than particularly geared at video, but if you host your own videos or are aiming to rank pages where you’ve embedded a non-hosted video… this will impact your efforts.

Monitoring Video Listings for Business – The Search Monitor
I recently interviewed Lori Weiman, CEO of the online reputation management company The Search Monitor, and tested out her company’s Competitor and Trademark Monitoring tools, which her company announced to have the ability to monitor and segment actual video results across organic search listings, multiple web channels and websites. The main question I wanted answered was: Is this a good tool for search marketers and reputation management professionals?
Right of Publicity – Most Overlooked Legal Issue with Online Video
While trademark and copyright has typically made up most of the discussion of legal issues around online marketing and video for business, many companies today are still completely unaware of another equally important issue – controlling your image and likeness in any video by someone else for whatever purpose . This is known as, the “right of publicity.”
What’s Your Online Video SEO Reputation Worth?
I recently covered the Brand, Trademark and Reputation Management session at the Search Engine Strategies San Jose conference. Video SEO Tips from Aaron Wall of SEOBook
At the SES San Jose 2009 Conference, I had the chance to catch up with someone I have followed for many years in the SEO space, Aaron Wall. For those of you that do not know Aaron, he is the founder of SEOBook.com. SEOBook is a great resource for SEO and SEM training, how-to’s, tools, etc… Aaron started very early on leveraging videos on the website to help explain SEO. In fact, if you are looking to learn a bit about SEO and SEM, there is a great section on their site with free search engine marketing videos.
I asked Aaron to tell us a little bit about SEOBook.com and his experience with video, as well as to give us a few tips for Video SEO.

Never heard of them? I think they’re probably doing more right than most video producers I’ve come across…
Youtube’s New Promoted Video Placement is Deceptive?
YouTube has changed some areas of their Promoted videos service. Is it good, bad or otherwsie? Plus is it still Promoted videos or has it simply become an expansion of the Related Videos area of the site? Let’s take a closer look at it and find out just what’s going on.
Lessons in Video & SEO – The JK Wedding Dance Video
A little video of a wedding entrance made a huge splash a couple weeks ago. You probably saw it. If not, you almost definitely heard about it. For their entrance, the wedding party eschewed the more traditional entrance and scampered down the church aisle in various hip hop dance styles to a Chris Brown song named “Forever.” They were all pretty good dancers, too, except for one or two poor souls in the group.

Digitalsmiths claims to have a so-called ’skin detection algorithm’ that will allow users of the video search engine to search for dialogue, nude scenes and more… How peculiar.
Video + SEO = Best Practices for Video & E-Commerce
Last week, I had the honor of speaking at the first annual Liveclicker Video Commerce Summit in Seattle, WA. I was asked to discuss and present video search engine optimization and to help educate the audience on best practices for publishing online video in a search engine friendly manner. The title, was Video + SEO – Not Smoke and Mirrors, Just Best Practices for E-commerce Video Publishing. With that in mind, there are slides that are specifically geared towards e-commerce but the concepts and tactics apply across the board for publishing online video.
