Recently an old friend of my from my college days contacted me about a video contest his son and daughter in-law were finalists in, and he asked me if I would vote for their videos on the site. Turns out the contest was hosted by intuit, the company well-known for their personal and small-business finance software products, which has built a growing presence with their web-based tools, services, and communities for small businesses.

Youtube Contest & Suggestions for Making a “Good” Video

According to the reputable news organization, The Onion, Youtube has just released a new contest and is offering a $100,000 cash prize to the first user to upload a “good video” that has a “shred of originality or artistic merit,” and is “actually worth watching.”

So, today I saw 2 specific announcements to related to this. The first was an email that I received from Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails and the second was an announcement today from Radiohead, who is sponsoring an online contest for fans to produce their next music video.
