4.5 Hours of Video Viewed Per User at Google, 5.4 Billion Video Ads in November

video-metrix

ComScore dropped their monthly Video Metrix on us the other day and I've just been so busy that I couldn't get to it until now. All that research I was doing myself was taking up some time. But here we are, just a couple weeks left in 2010 and online video is as powerful as ...

Google Releases Annual Zeitgeist Report, An In-Depth Look At The 2010 Year In Search

zeitlogo

Last week we took a look at what some search engines were saying about the most popular queries of 2010.  All the major search engines typically release a recap of the year's most popular keywords and search phrases, and Yahoo, Bing, & AOL did so last week.  Google obviously enjoys being different, so they waited ...

What Video Marketers Can Learn From Annual Lists of Top-Searched Keyword Terms

top-searches-2010

For many years in a row, the top search query was Britney Spears.  When sharing this fact with clients and during seminars, I often joke that one would think we've learned everything there is to know about Miss Spears by now.  And it seems as though that might finally be the case.

video-advertising-networks

We talk a lot about online video advertising, but we've never really combined all the options into one big list in the past. So, here you go, one ReelSEO Show Reel of online video advertising networks (in reverse alphabetical order so as not to show any favoritism and be unique).

AOL Gets Serious About The Power of Online Video Content

aol-video

I just saw this press release (even though I was done working for the day mostly) about AOL and the creation of AOL Video. I thought, well, that's timely (in that I saw it, not that they've waited so long to get it done).  You did know they bought 5min.com right?

ComScore October 2010 Search Engine Rankings - Google Maintains Lead, Duh

Google search magnifying glass

Since we talk about SEO, I figured we should talk about the search engines so you know where to focus (Google) and where you can sort of skip (AOL). Now, I find it odd that this report from comScore is five times longer than the new Video Metrix which has just two charts in it ...

video-metrix

comScore has once again let loose with the who's who in online video otherwise known as its monthly Video Metrix. The gist is that 175 million U.S. Internet users watched online video content in October for an average of 15.1 hours per viewer. Blekko: Another Human-Edited Search Engine Hopes To Take On Google By Stopping Spam

blekko

ReelSEO is, first and foremost, about video.  Video marketing, video production, and of course, video SEO.  So search engine news is something we tend to pay attention to.  There’s a new search engine in town, and it claims to have the one thing that Google’s search engine does not:  human editors.

The Pool, a unique research initiative made of people from Publicis Groupe, publishers and advertisers, aimed to identify optimal ad models across emerging media platforms recently put out some new research that says giving consumers the ability to select the ads they see is vital to the ad success on short form video.

AOL Continues Video Expansion with 5Min Purchase?

aol-5-min

Rumors today state that AOL will buy 5min.com (which I recently used for a weekender). This after they just penned a deal with Google for search and more intense video cooperation. Oh and they brought out Cambio earlier in the year.

VideoFishbowl-tba663

As journalism changes and newspapers undergo seismic shifts, big media companies are setting up local shops, and they’re hoping to win local online ad dollars as a result. AOL, ESPN, New York Times and NPR are all expanding quickly in the hyperlocal online business. Local online advertising has grown 45% each year for the last ...

Yahoo Steals A Chunk of Google's Search Engine Market Share?

yahoo-logo

I come from a background in search.  I’m a search engine guy first, and a video guy second.  It’s just how I’m wired.  Which is why ReelSEO is such a great home for me, because I get to write about both.  Today, there’s some news about search engines that isn’t specific to video, but its ...

Microsoft, Yahoo!, Hulu To Let Users Choose Video Ads Via Asq

Having video viewers tell you which video ads they want to see, and don't want to see is the new thing. Facebook has been using it for sometime with their own ads and now Microsoft, Yahoo!, and Hulu planning to do the same.

13 Billion Videos On YouTube for 135.7 Million Viewers In April

My post last month about comScore's metrics got eaten by the ReelSEO gremlins and disappeared into the ether but I'm here again, this time hopefully my insightful commentary won't bend time/space and make the entire article disappear again (which must be what happened last time).
