New Tool To Add Subtitles To Popular Videos

I just learned about a neat service called Overstream. Basically, Overstream is a service that enables users to add subtitles to popular videos that are found on Youtube or Google.
As Ghacks points out, there are 2 great practical applications for this sort of service/tool.
- You can create subtitles for users who speak a different languages. For example, you could could add spanish language subtitles to the movie so that Spanish language speakers can find and view the information.
- You can also use this to create new content. In other words, you can add humorous comments, additional resources, related facts and information, etc...
The user interface for Overstream is quite simple and intuitive. I just signed up and create a video with subtitles that you can see at the bottom of this post. All you need to do is to register for an account, login, and then choose a URL for a video on a supported portal such as Youtube. The video is then added to the Overstream system and subtitles can then be added. All you do is choose the interval on the time line where you want the subtitle to appear and you are done. They have a nice flash tutorial when you first login to the site that so that you can follow along.
You can add the subtitles, test and preview these, and even export or import subtitles in the srt format. This is the format ogmmerge accepts for multiplexing into ogm streams.
