Smosh Hits Inevitable 10 Million Subscriber Mark

I was perusing VidStatsX the other day for another story and noticed that Smosh was approaching the 10 million subscriber milestone, the first ever to do so after being the first to 7, 8, and 9 million.  And now it's official.  After passing Ray William Johnson in January and hitting the 7 million mark shortly after, Smosh's subscribers keep increasing and compounding at an impressive rate.  The only question now is, when will it ever hit the wall?  The men behind Smosh, Ian Hecox and Anthony Padilla, have tapped into a seemingly neverending audience stream.

Smosh hit 9 million in early April and 8 million in early March.  So the fact that it's late May suggests that, finally, there's the slightest bit of slowdown.  But every YouTube channel on the planet would love to have such a "slowdown."

The current top 10 subscribed channels (from VidStatsX):

Considering that Smosh has blown up a lot due to Smosh Games, the audience for video game-related programming is obviously fierce.   We should be taking a long look at PewDiePie's channel as one that could possibly overtake Smosh in the future.  Recently hitting 8 million itself, the channel has only been around for a couple of years and has the 2nd-highest growth in the top 10 (#1 HolaSoyGerman is another one definitely on the move).
