YouTube Reaches More U.S. Adults Than Cable Networks

An interesting new infographic was released this week via MDG Advertising. It shows YouTube ahead of the U.S. cable networks in capturing the 18-34 year old market. Digital ad spend on the platform is projected to be around $8.4 Billion by 2016.

MTV Launches Dedicated Short Form Video Platform

MTV are embracing the short form video by setting up a new production studio for its MTVOther.com platform. They aim to develop content and talent which will be pushed online and via their new interactive apps. Viacom, MTV's parent company, also announced a partnership with Twitter this week to sell advertising for video clips pulled from its network. These include clips from VH1, Nickelodeon and Comedy Central as well as MTV. The venture will launched at the VMAs on August 25th.

Rihanna Passes Justin Bieber For Most YouTube Views

Rihanna's VEVO channel overtook Justin Bieber as the most viewed artist on YouTube this week, with a combined total of 3.8 Billion views, 2 million ahead of the Biebmiester. Psy takes the #3 spot with 3.1 billion views, followed by Eminem with 2.4 billion views, Lady Gaga with 2.25 billion views and Shakira with a measly 2 billion views to her name.
