Yesterday, Google confirmed that current Google Glass owners would be able to upgrade to a new version of the hardware. Today they have started the teasing process by releasing two new images that show at least one new feature, an earbud which connects to a USB port in the frame. The audio quality has been a bugbear for many and it looks like Google have taken steps to resolve this issue for the new roll out. Also part of the hardware upgrade, Glass should now become compatible with prescription frames and lenses. Current owners can trade in their current pair as part of a "one time" offer by Google.
Current Glass Explorers program are also now allowed to invite up to three friends to purchase the $1,500 hardware. The invites are already being rolled out, confirm Engadget, who posted an example to their site yesterday:
