There’s no question that video is among the best ways to influence travel decisions, according to Kim Andersen, vice president of marketing for the Nassau Paradise Island Promotion Board. “Our destination is stunningly beautiful, and there is no way words or even photos can tell the story the way video can,” says Andersen.

In terms of video advertising, the hardest working part of any media plan is TrueView in-stream video ads, which provide tourism executives like Andersen with the ideal way to showcase destinations to the greatest number of leads who live in very expensive television markets – all without breaking the bank.

“Three years ago, nobody was talking about YouTube as a consumer advertising vehicle.  Now, it’s evolved from shaky handmade videos to a foundational medium that no advertiser – or consumer – can afford to ignore,” says Andersen.  More than a dozen tantalizing, high-production-value videos grace the Nassau Paradise Island YouTube channel, affording an ideal marketing platform that drives guests to Nassau Paradise Island where vacation dreams come true.

Counting On Numbers

When Andersen first joined the Board, much of the marketing effort was funneled to more traditional channels, with limited broadcast support when budgets permitted.  With the evolution of technology, an entire new world of digital advertising emerged that was effective, cost-efficient, and most importantly, measurable.

To power the shift, Anderson turned to the travel-industry digital marketing experts at Net Conversion.  The agency’s two principals, Frank Vertolli and Ryan Fitzgerald, have set their agency apart with a laser focus on measurable analytics.  They don’t build websites, they don’t design brochures, and they don’t do print ads.  Instead, measurable, digital advertising is their stock in trade.

Net Conversion continuously tweaks its targets, messaging, and auction-based budgets accordingly.  “Ultimately, we know that a certain profile will pay attention to attractive, uninterrupted content delivered in an uncluttered space.  Data derived from TrueView enables us to pinpoint relevant messaging and constantly refine target audiences by keyword search to make sure we are presenting video to a customer who really wants to watch it,” says Vertolli.

Data shows that branded messaging is also an important of the overall ad mix for the Board.  When two banner campaigns run in each market, Net Conversion can test effectiveness and refine buys and creative messages, refining them depending on seasonality peaks and current incentive programs.

Hospitable Social Mix

In today’s digital world, no man is an island – not even in the Bahamas.  The ability to integrate content across social outlets adds an invaluable dimension to the hospitality of Nassau Paradise Island.  More than 154,000 viewers have already visited Nassau Paradise Island’s YouTube channel, where guests comment about how excited they are about their upcoming trips and then relive their recent vacations through video – which is concurrently displayed across multiple social media outlets.     I like the idea of using video to showcase a beautiful destination. As they have found out, complimenting it with some advertising may do the trick. The next question is, can they achieve this organically and make it even more powerful with well executed social campaign.

    If 35,000 Views for paid youtube ads is good, I'm walking on water because they spent a ton on these ads for very low few views - under 100k views in 1 year across their channel. My top Bahamas Beaches video (which is what they are selling Beaches) has over 500k views.

    The Bahamas Travel Bureau also paid youtube 1 million+ a few years ago to set up their channel "RealBahamas" plus paying an ad agency to shoot travel videos to sell the outer Islands. Once again my Bahamas Beaches DVD videos did a better job selling the islands (soft sell viral) in views 1 million+ with about 10+ videos vs their expensive polished Cruise Ship like Vides with perfect shots, people and music.

    My videos captures the feeling (experience) of sitting on the beach with nature sounds like you are there... which youtube viewers love like the Corona ads that came after me.

    ReoSEO should write me up as a youtuber who gets more views for less money than do your so called professional and expensive big name ad agencies. I've been on the inside of ad agencies and their goal is to happily take your money and spend it and hope it increases sales so you will spend more.

    Unlike Direct Marketing "Infomercials" or Google Ads that measure an ads effect and how well your ad or video is working the next day vs TV Ads that don't. I'd argue that my Bahamas Videos and DVD have created more views and trips to the Caribbean than both of these expensive pros have done for the Bahamas on youtube. Come look at my stats and views vs both of these avg at best channel's videos.

    Just like youtube hiring so called Pros and Celebrities to create content to beat our current pros and YT Celebrities, I - like other youtubers - have beaten the highly paid outsider pros in terms of delivering views. We - pro youtubers - are beating the so called establishment outsiders in our cyberspace here. So if advertisers want to reach Gen YT, they should hire established YT partners for less money and get more views and make more sales than hiring the outsider big names.

    Youtube should help get paid Sponsors for it's best youtube partners rather than trying to get the so called outside Celebrities to create content for youtube paid by Youtube and outside sponsors.

    Instead youtube should connect what they have - Successful Partners - directly with real big sponsors like the Bahamas Travel Bureau rather than of linking them with big expensive ad agencies and youtube built websites.

    In other words, connect Bahamas Travel Bureau directly with me as a sponsor - I'll put links off my videos to their Travel Booking agencies... and or let them put ad words and even a 20 second (million dollar TV ads) before my soft sell video or better yet pay me not to have any ads before for a higher viewed video.
