It's Saturday and I shouldn't be working, but I am (then I'm off to play some Homefront). I just wanted to let you all know that if you've got an iPhone and Google TV you can now use them together. Previously the app was only on Google Android.
- Your phone improves standard TV remote activities like changing channels or accessing your DVR. I love using it at night, because the back light means I can see all the buttons in the dark and the buttons are easy to find.
- You can also interact with your TV in ways you never have before. For instance, try using the voice search to find your favorite shows and movies just by speaking into your phone. There should be less fighting over the remote, too, since multiple phones can work as remotes at the same time—you just need to agree on what to watch!
So now they've got the remote on the top two smartphone OS's being used for web surfing, but that doesn't mean many are using Google TV yet. No, I'm not slamming it, I'm simply saying the uptake wasn't as huge as they had hoped. Anyway, if you have got an iOS device and Google TV you can get the freely available app from the iTunes App Store. You can also scan the QR code over there to the right.
One caveat, it can't share web pages from the phone to the TV yet. But it's a small thing really.
