Dailymotion - First To Bring HD Video Sharing To TV

Dailymotion First To Bring HD Video Sharing To TV

Just the other day they announced that they are supporting HD Video. Now there is news that dailymotion will be the first online video sharing website to be available on television.

Paris, 20 February 2008. Dailymotion and Neuf Cegetel are joining forces in an exclusive first-ever television airing of content from a video sharing website: the best of Dailymotion, on channel 100 of the Neuf TV HD service. Beta version of this service is available since today. Under this arrangement, Neuf TV HD subscribers will be able to view selected Dailymotion videos full-screen on their television sets.

A new form of television content
Anything that was not yet on the television is likely to get there. With its exclusive videos, creations and short takes, the Dailymotion community is coming to television with a store of know-how and programme variety previously only available on the web. Neuf TV HD subscribers now have access to 30,000 videos from MotionMaker program (the most creative internet user productions) specially encoded for Neuf TV HD. Hundreds of new videos will be added every day. The service can be used with the same navigation interactivity as on the web, or as a classic linear television channel, with videos sequenced automatically.

The Dailymotion interface on Neuf TV HD, developed in partnership with Proservia group, provides users with most of the menus and categories of Dailymotion available on the web, adapted to an interactive television environment. True to the virtues behind successful take-up of the Neuf TV HD service, this clear, straightforward interface enables subscribers to navigate intuitively through the available content using their remote controls.

There is a choice of three viewing modes, for an optimized viewing experience: full-screen, intermediate (for a good trade-off between size and quality), and player mode (showing information about the current video).

Distributing legal and available content
By harnessing the content selection work of Dailymotion teams, Neuf Cegetel is offering a new-concept channel combining Web 2.0 with interactive television. Neuf TV HD subscribers will be able to appreciate novel material and discover new talent, in full compliance with copyright legislation, while enjoying the ease of use and viewing comfort of television.

Neuf Cegetel continues to create value for its subscribers, by calling in high-credibility partners, leaders in their fields, while remaining sharply focused on its core business of content and service aggregation and distribution. Neuf Cegetel today enables Neuf TV HD subscribers to join the extended, outward-looking Dailymotion community, which already has over 10 million members.
