Videos Worth Sharing: Buddy Media CEO Shares A Video Full Of Emotion, Words Unspoken

A few months ago, an emotional video hit YouTube from Ben Breedlove, a young man suffering from hypertrophic cardiomyopathy.  Shortly after he published the video, he passed away, and its melancholy, yet uplifting, tone had everyone in the video world talking.  Breedlove didn't speak a word, he just held up pieces of paper explaining his situation and how he felt, with some appropriate music as its score.  Recently, Buddy Media CEO Michael Lazerow took to YouTube to post a similar video, explaining how lucky he feels to be alive in the wake of his social media company being bought by Salesforce.com.  He uses text on an iPad to deliver his message, and it's yet another video worth sharing.

Lazerow suffers from a heart condition known as VSD (Ventricular Septal Defect), and yes he, much like Breedlove, has "cheated death" in his life.  It's really good to see Lazerow acknowledge Ben Breedlove and Jen Linn here.  It says that Lazerow believes he's very lucky to be alive, and he thinks it's unfair that others have succumbed to their diseases/hardships.

But this video is more about what he's learned from his brush with death.  He's learned to be fearless, and has made the realization that fear is what holds people back from anything they want to do in their lives.  Obviously, this philosophy has paid off, since the huge cloud computing company Salesforce bought the social media marketer for $689 million.

Obviously, such a deal brings perspective.  Lazerow is grateful for his chance to witness this happen, that he's married with three healthy kids, that he's going to get to see what life is like under a new boss he declares to be "bad ass," and explains why Marc Benioff, CEO of Salesforce, is deserving of that acclaim.  The selling point of this video is that the guy is clearly happy to be alive, smiling and crying at his luck the whole time.

This is a great video that tells a story and has a resonating emotional connection.  It's a good example of how you can make a video, without speech, that still resonates with emotion.
