What's that mean for you? Well for starters Qik is a live mobile video platform so that means you can start branching out into mobile video if you haven't already. This means you can quickly integrate Qik's mobile video capabilities into your workflow for online video.
If you're a Qik user, you have new channels available to you for monetization and distribution. It means you will now have the ability to integrate ads in your mobile video content. In regards to distribution, users will now have a quick and easy way to get their Qik-generated content out through the Brightcove partner network.
If you use Brightcove but not Qik, no worries. Now you'll be able to use over 130 models of mobile phone to integrate video created on your mobile into your online campaigns giving a greater diversity to your offering. The new integration deal will give you the ability to:
- Automatically upload your videos to your Brightcove account.
- Share your or any public videos to Brightcove by clicking "Share" under the video on Qik.com.
- Add tags to automatically organize all mobile content created by each user in the Brightcove Media Module.
There is no way to stream fully live from your mobile at the moment but we're told that they're working on it right now and it should debut quite soon.
If you're of the frugal mind you might want to jump on board early as they're offering a limited time special offer. Until July 15th, Brightcove customers (existing or new) will receive three months of free Qik integration with Brightcove when signing up for an annual account. This is a savings of $450 per user, with the monthly license per user priced at $150.
