Brightcove announced a new program today for Video Cloud Pro and Enterprise customers. It's something that was a trend last year I think. They've started a Content Exchange Initiative that allows Video Cloud users to, basically, syndicate content out to their sites to boost the amount of video content they have to offer visitors while monetizing that content for themselves and the content creators.

From their press release:

The Brightcove Content Exchange initiative enables Video Cloud media customers to access libraries of third-party video content and to execute advertising strategies around licensed content. The initiative also offers participating Content Exchange partners streamlined access to new distribution through Brightcove Video Cloud media industry customers around the world.

The video library includes content from major partners like AOL Video, Diagonal View, Internet Video Archive, NewsLook, ScreenPlay, Inc., and Touchstorm. It sounds like any content provider can make their content available to the exchange and out to specific publishers as the system, "facilitates the business introductions between Content Exchange partners and other publishers so the two parties can transact directly for licensing agreements and advertising revenue economics."

Now, if you have a large amount of high quality content that might fit into the major categories like news, sports, entertainment, and how-to, then you might want to look into making some extra cash off of that content through this new Brightcove Initiative which could then allow for further video production. Also, if you are looking for an ever-increasing or rotating amount of video content for your site and viewers this could also be a way to get that without having to begin full-on video production on your own which, as we all know, can be cost prohibitive.

Brightcove also did some back-end technical work with some APIs that allow for easy content control from the creator side and identification from the publisher side as well as advertising for revenue sharing on licensed content, etc.

Brightcove is not the first OVP to offer this sort of system for video content syndication and monetization but it does sound like they've put some extra thought into it from the business side of things.

The Brightcove Content Exchange is now available to qualified Video Cloud Pro and Enterprise edition customers. Some conditions apply, of course.

Not sure advertising strategies are as effective as affiliate strategies when concerning video views right?
