Links Matter for Universal Search Video Rankings

One of the tips that I gave in my last post was to add video to pages that may already be ranked high in Google for a particular keyword (excluding your home page), and to then submit a video sitemap to Google.  The reason for this, aside from the importance of adding engaging content to your site, is that by doing so, you may be able to gain a universal search ranking for that search term or a blended organic search result with a thumbnail.  I mention this because I have seen it work.  That being said, Google’s Matt Cutts confirms one piece of the puzzle as to why this can work.

July was a big month all around for online video (according to comScore) but perhaps it was the biggest month yet for Hulu who, according to various research, surpassed Time Warner in viewership during the month. Could this be the turning point for the cable giant or is it just a fluke due to lack of interesting things to see?

Without Video, Your Website will NOT Rank in the Future

YouTube Brand Channels – The Missing Link

YouTube YouTube Brand Channels The Missing LinkAs an independent consultant, I am involved in a number of projects for setting up either partner or brand channels on YouTube. The most frequently asked question I get from brand or content owners is: “How does a YouTube brand channel help me in getting more traffic on my site?

Although one can argue on the necessity of that requirement in a distributed world, so far, the way Google sells brand channels does not help much in answering that question.
