It's been an excellent week for YouTube MCNs with Maker announcing another successful round of funding and BroadbandTV hitting 1 Billion views. VEVO released viewing figures the the last 12 months showing an impressive increase in mobile and Connected TV viewing. In other news, YouTube tweaked yet another design feature and Virgin Media becomes the first cable operator to embrace Netflix, in the UK anyway.

VEVO Reports 44 Billion Views Over Last Year, Thanks Lucky Stars For Robin Thicke And Miley Cyrus

Some big numbers released by VEVO this week as their '2013 US Music Video Viewership Report' confirms the music giant's stats for the last 12 months. Between July 2012 and June 2013, we watched around 44.4 Billion VEVO videos, 10.4 Billion in the US alone. That breaks down to 122 million videos viewed daily worldwide. The 44.4 billion views included an increase of 184% in the number of of mobile and connected TV used to stream the video content.

Miley Cyrus's "We Can't Stop" became the first VEVO video to score more than ten million views in a 24-hour period, a record only surpassed a few days ago by Cyrus herself as the video for "Wrecking Ball" (in which the singer dispenses with her clothes and licks a hammer) attracted 19.3 million views in the 24 hours after it premiered.

YouTube MCN BroadbandTV Hits One Billion Monthly Impressions

BroadbandTV, one of the largest YouTube MCNs in the world, announced that it has reached a billion monthly impressions. The Canadian based network now boasts more than 10,000 content partners who bring in 100 million subscribers. That's an increase of 2,200 content partners in just two months. BroadbandTV’s online Multi-Channel Network consists of its two brands VISO and TGN and they also work with major brands such as the NBA and Discovery to provide monetisation solutions.

BroadbandTV founder and CEO Shahrzad Rafati said of the milestone:

With growth comes increased competition and we’re looking forward to showing the market how we are different. Our proprietary technology platform benefits content creators of all sizes and we have a compelling road map of features that we can’t wait to release to make our content creator community even more successful.

BroadbandTV came 9th in comScore's Online Video Rankings of July 2013.

Maker Studios Secures $26 Million More In Funding

Another MCN, Maker Studios, acquired a further $26 million in series C of funding to enable them to increase staff and grow internationally, The network behind Pewdiepie, Epic Rap Battles of History and The Gregory Brothers secured the investment from Canal+ Group, Malaysian firm Astro Overseas Limited and Singapore's SingTel Innov8. Maker attracts more than 4 billion online views online per month and has a stable of 60,000 channels with around 260 million subscribers. The funding announcement comes a week after Maker officially confirmed the acquisition of video platform Blip.
